General Safety: (Conditions of Use / Rules)

Climbing is fun but is an activity with a risk of injury.  Participants in climbing should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.  There are general rules for the "Climb Nosara" site:

  • Report to reception on each visit BEFORE you climb to ensure correct liability waivers are completed and signed.
  • You must exercise care, common sense and self-preservation at all times.
  • Report any problems with the Walls, equipment, spinning holds or other climbers' behaviour to a member of staff immediately.
  • Be aware of other climbers around you and how your actions will affect them.  Always be aware of climbers above you who may fall at any time.
  • Do not distract people while they are climbing or belaying.
  • Never stand directly under someone who is climbing, unless belaying or spotting a climber.
  • When belaying, always use a belay device attached to your safety harness with a locking karabiner.  Use correct belaying technique as per manufacturers or staff instruction.
  • Always pay attention to what the climber is doing.
  • Above the bouldering line, you must use a rope for protection - solo climbing is not acceptable on these Walls.
  • Always use a safety harness to attach yourself to the rope.  Always tie the rope directly into the harness using a suitable climbing knot.
  • Ensure your equipment is in good working order.
  • Children under the age of 18 either have to be accompanied by an adult (or responsible person over 18) at all times, unless the necessary consent form from the child's parent or guardian.

Bouldering:

  • Always climb within your capabilities, not above the line, and descend by down-climbing.
  • Do not wear a harness or other item of equipment that may increase the risk of injury when landing.
  • Never climb directly above or below another climber.

Leading:

  • You must clip all the runners/quickdraws on the route you are climbing (no back clipping or z-clipping).
  • At the anchor point, clip into both karabiners.
  • When climbing a previously led climb, a second must climb on the side of the rope running through the quickdraws, unclipping as they climb.  If another person wishes to toproute the route, they must re-clip the quickdraws.
